There are many benefits to providing children with opportunities to construct structures and shelters. It creates an opportunity to develop creative thinking, maths and science skills, self-esteem, motor skills, problem-solving skills, and to practice cooperation skills. It is also a wonderful tool for introducing children to other ways of knowing and being, sharing images of structures and shelters from around the world with children and creating opportunities to have conversations about similarities, differences and, most importantly, culture.
