Cultural Motifs and Symbols can be powerful tools for conversations, connection and creating a sense of belonging and welcome to many diverse groups of people. However, if used inappropriately or without permission, they can also have the opposite effect. The important thing for us as Educators is to learn about them, have conversations, to research and ask questions about culturally significant motifs or symbols and their use in our programs.
